# CNAME

By using a CNAME pointing to the Commanders Act servers, you can define your event tracking as first-party tracking.

The canonical name, or CNAME, is a type of DNS record used to create aliases for domains or sub-domains that you own. Let's say you own the domain site.com. At the same time, you want visitors to the website to be able to access it via [www.situs.com](http://www.situs.com). To do this, you can specify site.com as the CNAME for [www.site.com.\&#x20](http://www.site.com.\&#x20);

From the explanation of the definition of CName, we can conclude that its main function is to create a pseudonym or alias for the main domain.
